Dialogue & Dialect Coach · Voice Director

Coaching the read,
not just the words.

Castilian Spanish dialogue and dialect coaching and voice direction for film, television, video games and dubbing — for productions that want a performance a native speaker would believe.

01 Approach

A director is the bridge between the client and the audience.

Chema Bazán coaching an actor's read in the studio

I own a project's tone, intention and pace, and as the language and culture expert I steer the read when a delivery that lands in one language would misfire in another. With actors I build a relaxed, trusting room where the true emotion behind the text can surface, rather than imposing a result from outside. The technical groundwork — phonetics, emission, accent — exists to serve that honesty, never to replace it.

Directing talent is as much psychology as technique: attention to detail, an ear for each performer's strengths and limits, humour, and a room relaxed enough for honest work to happen. Often it also means coaching the client. A Japanese intonation that feels natural at home can read as cold or even aggressive to a Spanish audience, and part of my job is to see that mismatch coming and steer the read so the message lands exactly as it was intended.

Authenticity only appears once the actor has truly discovered the text.
